I normally don't post on the weekends (even The Thirty-Something Bride needs an effin' break), but I had to thank everyone who came out yesterday to donate dresses and accessories for The Fairy Godmother Project of Music City! It was a great success! We collected over 150 dresses! Folks donated shoes and clutches, wraps and make-up. We had a ton of jewelry donated as well. It really was a feel good experience for everyone! When I lived in Chicago, every year I'd hear about this wonderful non-profit group that collected and distributed prom dresses for teenage girls in financially challenged communities. I always wanted to be a part of it, but always heard about it after the fact. Not so great for a would-be philanthropist, right? So what did I do? I raised $3700 for the AIDS Foundation of Chicago instead. I collected donations and support from friends, family members and complete strangers!
